This motorcycle rider in the Philippines gets full marks for creativity when it comes to what to use for a battery and where to put it.

They look like good industrial Ni-Cad cells used in institutional and industrial power backup systems. Nominal voltage per cell is 1.2 V and normally would be part of a bank of a 100 cells.
Durable and if taken care of will last for years and years.
