Title: Free to good home
Post by: Sr.X on July 29, 2013, 05:39:32 PM
Found a 1980 XS 650 in a welded on home made hardtail, no carbs, pipes or papers but motor turns over. The currant owner just wanted to save it from the scrap heap, it is now being stored inside. I can get photos if anyone wants, owner is a crippled gearhead with more time than money. ( back injury, cronick pain)  Give me a call or PM,  250-847-6676. Would love to see it go somewhere and recieve love and gasoline.

Where? When?  I'd love this find.  I consider myself fairly adept at getting registration, and hardtails are my thing.

Please let me know more.

Peace & Grease, Dennis

So far it looks like it will be going home with Dennis, just might be part of a fishing trip from what I hear. Just great to see an orphan find a family.

Thanks for the tip Bob.  I went out to Smithers and met Len, the fellow who salvaged the bike.  I did not ask for pictures since it was a freebie, I did not want to impose on him.  Besides, after talking with him, he didn't seem like the picture taking/posting/emailing kind of guy.  I thought that since it was an XS650, and since Bob seemed to think it was worthwhile, I'd take a chance, sight unseen.  I am pretty stoked with my acquisition.

No guilt trip when hardtailing an already hardtailed motorcycle.

Lotta guys used to hardtail like that in the 80's. Cheater method but easy. Good score!! CHEERS.
