Well done!
My first crash went something like this:
it was blue, it was green, it was blue, it was green, and then whomph! landed on my back in the field.
Ah, I remember that little Honda like it was yesterday. Picked her up, and off we went.
To get first aid.
Now I carry a kit on my bike.
Anyone else carry a mini-first aid kit on their bike?

Peg

I carry a tool kit but never thought about carrying a kit for myself.

What do you put in yours?

I carry a small hiking style kit. Band-aids, gauze, tape, surgical gloves, t-3's, alcohol wipes, not much more. Only carry this on trips though, not around town.

While you're there check out 20 idiots on motorcycles. Hilarious and most of them seem to be riding one particular brand..CHEERS.

He didn't seem to be leaning it over that much....but in the end no harm done, the motor still leaked oil.   Actually it is too bad he hurt his bike..wasn't doing anything really stupid.  I once caught a pavement 'rut' with my centerstand...I had a passenger and that made the bike ride a bit lower.  Since that incident I took off that centerstand.  Now I am older and don't corner as hard but still keep it off...

Here's what I've got in my smallest first aid kit...

(All this stuff should fit in a small Zip-lock bag, easy to stuff in your toolbox or tape under your seat...)

Sterile Gauze pads (5) -secure these with tape or use to wipe off road grit
Bandaids- (5 each) -small & med
Sterile Gauze roll (1-2)
Butterfly bandages (10) or a pack of "Steri-strips"- instant stitches (I highly recommend Steri-strips)
First aid tape (1 roll narrow)
Latex/Nitrile gloves (3 pair)
Polysporin (1 tube)
Tylenol and Ibuprophen (in small watertight tube or packets)- for pain relief and swelling * also any allergy medication you may need*
BZK wipes (5)- antiseptic, and doesn't hurt as much as alcohol wipes
Hand cleanser wipes (5) - mama said "always wash your hands"
Tweezers
Small cuticle scissors
Triangular bandage (you can skip this one if you don't have space)
Small baggie of Q-tips

If you don't have the time to put something together, they sell something like this at the industrial supply places and drugstores.

I checked that one out at the same time.  It is pretty funny (if you are okay with laughing at someone else's misfortunes).  My favourite in the collection is one I have seen before, with the fellow who just finishes bragging about how much money he spent on his garbage wagon and then promptly drives it into a parked car.   The vid with the Harley going into the ditch filmed from the mini van went viral because the mini van people didn't even stop to help out.

I had similar experience to Peggy's.  Racing a friend of mine through a valley and some sharp corners.  Went wide but then a car came into view.  I was wide into his corner so and a header was in the offing.  So I cut it right into my lane and hit some gravel.  The bike went end over end.  I saw blue, green, blue green on and on.  Since I was not sure what was happening I just close my eyes until it stopped.  Landed flat on my back.  My friend said it was hilarious watching me as I ended doing somersaults down the grassy part at the side of the road, just kept landing on my feet and would tumble again.  What was really frighting was when I went to look at my bike I came across a large rock that was flat as a table and about 4 feet long.  On top of the rock was a scrape from my helmet hitting it and scraping the full length of the rock.  Helmets at the time were optional and plenty of times I did not wear one but this time I did and without it my brains would have been spread all over that rock.  So ever since I wear helmets because you never know what will be coming around that next corner.  Not a  lot of damage to my bike but we ended up working on that night to get it road worthy and took a multi day trip to Norther Ontario the next day.  Figured if I did not get back on a bike soon then I would not want to later.

Wow, Donovan,
Your 'blue-green' story is WAY scarier than mine...
Kinda glad helmets were never optional when I was growing up, even if they were often too big to fit right, at least we were wearing them. Glad it was just your helmet that lost some paint.

Cheers,
Peg

I had a bit of a fall a few years ago , On the ZRX.  Some of you may remember, I was going over the last Railroad crossing out by my place in Miworth, and carried  just enough speed over the tracks to unload the rear tire , just as i was getin back on the throttle and shifting my weight throught the Esse bend. The next thing I Felt was the rear tire breaking loose and me going into, what seemed like a real slow Low-side. Instincts took over and I backed out of the throttle, And then saw blue, green, blue, green.  Some cyclists happened by to help pick up the big Z, and with a broken right foot peg, and slightly bent bars , I  rode home.   Once I got there and took off my leathers I found my shoulder to be in some disrepair... I tore my right AC joint. to this day I still have the lump in the right shoulder! :(  This was my fault completely, I was a bit Hot entering the Esse bend to pull it off.  I now take the crossing in 3rd gear, down in the rev band, and not 2nd,higher in the rev band! Seems to be working so far, And i has a soild respect for RR crossings!! :)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4A306MeDDU.  This guy has no problems with RR crossings.

mine was a while back. riding a (you guessed it) a kz650. very tired, gravel bush road, deep moguls, started to lift up entering the last mogul and seat came up and shot me straight up. last thing i remember was looking down at the front wheel totally inverted. woke up next to the bike in the middle of the road with a sore ass and a 3"split up the back of my fiberglass helmet. (short story) got back on and rode to camp, slept and went to work. No problem with wearing a helmet, just wish it was by choice and not by force.
