going up through the lights at College Heights today I am pretty sure Dave Horton was coming towards me on his just completed CM 400 Cafe. On my way home going through the lights by Superstore saw an old 70'S International Travelall. Can't remember the lat time either of those things were seen by me. CHEERS.

How did it look? My would guess like a praying mantis trying to ride a grain of rice. Turns out doing cafe mods makes a small bike even smaller...and i am still 6'1" ha haha. Glad somebody saw me riding today

Probably looked just like Qball on his Ducati (ie: a bear on a bicycle)!
Seen a couple of bikes on the road out this way, too... must have had heated vests.

Good on Dave for being a keener. I usually start the season with a third wheel (sidecar) because of all the death gravel on every corner.
Re the 70's Travelal. When I was a teenager and first had my drivers licence my parents' vehicles that I was permitted to drive included a 1963 International Harvester pick up. Armstrong steering, 3 in the tree, straight six, 2WD. Like most things old, in their declining years they become worthless, and then after a decade or so, they start becoming desireable again. My folks old truck was eventually retired under a tree in the bush behind their home where it lingered for years before some keen restoration guy snapped it up for $100. I wish I had clued in before then.

I'll admit a side car would be nice to start things off, do you give rides in that sidecar? It's on my bucket list.
Maybe I should just get training wheels until the sweepers come by ha ha ha.

This is my dad's old '64 (learned to drive in this truck), which now lives in Terrace with me.
Have some rust to sort out, but other than that, and a fussy signal light, she's a solid runner.

There is an old,maybe 60 ies IH, AKA Corn Binder, Travel-all, here in Vanderhoof driving the streets.It has been around for a few years. Sort of a pukish yellow colour(OEM) with some black trim......these old IH's did run for many years..

Wondered why they were called cornbinders ??? This is what I found.
It actually goes all the way back to when Cyrus McCormick invented the first successful reaper. In Chicago in the late 1800's McCormick improved on his equipment to bind twine, which was commonly used in corn fields. It was one of their most successful pieces of agricultural equipment and formed the basis of the early International Harvester Company in 1902.
The trucks came along shortly thereafter in 1907 with the "Auto Wagon". Light line International Trucks were always primarily targeted to and sold to farmers - this link with their agricultural equipment and use in the field (often for actually binding corn), earned them their nickname "cornbinders" or "binders".

We always called our truck "the cornbinder."

My uncle had one (4x4) when I was a kid. Did a lot of hunting in that old truck--Always amazed me the places that thing would go. He made his own roads. Once while mowing down Willows and small poplars we broke the front axle u-bolts on one side. My uncle simply wound out some winch cable, wrapped it around then reeled it in to cinch it. He drove it like that for a couple months. First time I drank whiskey out the bottle was in that truck. CHEERS.

When I first learned to drive 'the old girl' we always started out in second gear, as I was informed by my dad that
"first gear is for climbing trees". Now I know the real reason for that extra-low gear, but for a few years I was convinced that truck had special skills!

That old yellow Travel-all in Vanderhoof has been on the street here for more than 20years! Got stamina...
I had a 1962 IH small pick-up with the slant 4 cylinder. The liquid clutch went out on a road trip and I cut a hole in the floor for a lever to operate the clutch. Took both hands to shift! I put thousands of Km on the truck with that mod!
Oh ya - motorcycles... can't wait to insure my 400T (later this week, I'm hoping).

not exactly a bike story but I always carry my camera with me when I travel in or out of the cities and I'm usually rewarded for the effort.
Here's a few of the odd things I've seen..........
first - useless fireplug
2 - house for "Runt" must have low ceilings?
3 - can your bus do this?
4 - actually washing powder (Dari translation soap = barf)
5 - why they don't allow drinking on the job in Bangladesh
6 - when I first saw it I thought I was seeing things.
7 - the front wheels were skipping off the ground from the inbalance
