Hi guys and gals , my name is Brandan Jensen, Im new to the bike scene but ive always wanted to build a bobber. So im starting to look around and saw an old friend Dave Horton was a member on here so I joined. I dont have much to start with for building a bike short of a vivid imagination and an idea. haha. Plus a full fab shop equipped with a cnc plasma cutter, brake, press and machine shop doesnt hurt ;) Im looking for old hondas, yamahas, suzukis, kawis anything. Plans include a hard tail swap and some high rise Zbars. Im over 6ft so i dont want to look like a clown riding a pocketbike. So if you Gents can point me in the right direction on how to go about finding and building a bike then please speak up! Thanks Guys!

Hey Brandan
Welcome to the board. Lots of good resources here. The hardtail guys are Dennis, Rusty Bucket, and Fast One.
Cheers

welcome... trust me.. there are tons of resources on this board, you will never be at a loss for help/advice.

Hmm, not sure I warrant inclusion amongst the 'hardtail guys' - having built just the one, and having not, as yet, ridden it one block. It seems likely a certain amount of hard-won experience is a prerequisite for being in that select group, and those in it would no doubt be put out...
If Brandan has unfettered access to a full machine shop, it seems entirely possible we need him more than he needs us - but motorcycles do come up, we might be helpful in that area. Dave and Ben certainly seem to be applying themselves to the tasks at hand. Anway, welcome.

Brandan, what fun that our hobbies are in line again. My buddy Ben and I have been doing bike build nights a couple nights a week so I'll shoot you a message when I go up there for our next one. I am out of town until the 27thish.
I have a bike I think I just want gone for the right price, as well I know of one or two more oldies. I'll give you a shout, looking forward to seeing you again man.

Welcome on board. I currently have an xs650 build which I have been documenting under "Complete Rebuilds." If you would like to see it in the flesh (steel) and a 1981 750 Honda getting hardtailed, stop by my garage at 103 Parker Drive (corner of Parker and N. Tabor Blvd.) any time the lights are on in the shop. I will be working there most of this weekend, as well as my nephews who are working on their bikes (the above mentioned Honda and a Triumph).

We had a great Saturday night in the garage (except for Brandan locking his keys in his truck, lol). Elliot was motivated to keep forging ahead on his project, despite the free flowing beer. I hope he'll post some build pics. His hardtail has some real challenges because the stock engine frame cradle has one side that is bolted in so the engine can be removed. He has to incorporate that into his design.
There's not much I like more than wearing my grubbies, drinking beer with some gearheads, and grinding steel. What was interesting about Saturday was how many of the young guys are in the fabrication business. I was able to just listen and learn; kinda like hanging out with Jeff when he's giving a free lecture on metallurgy.
