Darryl Laing just called me and apparently Kurt Van Der lans fell off a roof yesterday. He is unconscious in I.C.U. Punctured lung, damage to the spleen broken bones...you get the picture. He is not allowed visitors at this time but his wife is with him. My grand daughter Had 2 rides in Santa's sidecar at this years toy run. I know he is not a member anymore but he sure sold a lot of raffle tickets! I think we as a club should send something to let him know we are thinking of him. Those who want to might add him to their prayers. Who's in? Not so cheersy.

You can count me in for Kurt awesome guy. Hoping to see Donovan tomorrow.

You can count me in also. Although I am still here in the hospital I hope to be out this weekend, at least that is the plan. Too bad that I cannot not visit him, hope all goes well with his recovery. My wife always worries when I work on a roof, I guess there might be some reason too that.

Poor Kurt, sounds bad, anything club management would like to do for Kurt, i'm 100% for. Kaziff

So my plan is to buy and deliver flowers on Saturday, along with a nice card from the club. Anyone wanting to chip in can do this at the next meeting. To be honest I expected more replies on this topic? CHEERS.
-
I can chip in, while you are at it spare a thought for Neil. Looks like he might of had a mild heart attack yesterday, is being shipped off to Victoria for an angiogram tomorrow. I spent most of the day yesterday at one hospital or another.
-
Will include Neil in my prayers--please keep us posted! CHEERS.

This is becoming a litany - requiring a litany of wishes for recoveries and best-possible outcomes. This represents a statistically signifcant portion of the club - remember those of you not currently laid up; it's a vintage club - we're vintage - take it a bit easy... here's hoping those already felled by this series of misfortunes and maladies are restored to their families - and to us - in short order.

Donovan:
If they don't let you out by Monday Morning, then I have prepared a scheme to get you home and have fabricated an IV pole from an old hockey stick, have glad bags ready for the saline solution and have a clean spare petcock to regulate the solution.
This has been a tough year for many of our members, vintage or not we are all vulnerable.

Wayne B:
Please give my best wishes to Kurt's family for Kurt's full recovery.

Kathie and I are thinking about Neil and Berthe and hoping wishing them a successful trip to the coast for any repairs Neil may require.

I wish all the best for Neil and Kurt and hope for a speedy recovery for them. There is a rumor I might even be out today so Shep you can keep your hockey stick and glad bags, Thanks any ways for the thought.

Maribel and I dropped by the hospital this morning and we were allowed to see Kurt. He is pretty drugged up but he managed a smile or two and seems to be 100% better than earlier. Shift change from 2 - 4 so no visitors then but most other times 2 at a time is oK.
His wife and daughter are there and his nephew from Kamloops came as well.

Donovan let us know if and when you get out OK? Thanks. Sorry to hear of others who have physical difficulties as well...

Took flowers up to Kurt. Of course They are not allowed in i.c.u His wife was just outside the door with their daughter. Also picked the wrong time for visitors. My fault Steve posted them. Talked with his wife and he is doing well. Should be moving him out of i.c.u. tomorrow. May end up with a limp and some memory loss but is expected to fully recover. Good news for a change! CHEERS!

Hi hope all goes well with Kurt and Neil. I got out today but have to take it easy which is not easy but at least I am home.
-
Had a short visit with Kurt on Christmas Day - he's now in South Surgical Ward room 6 and looking 100% better. He's able to move from chair to bed and I thought I heard him mumble something about going to Pioneer Aviation next time he was thinking about trying to fly.
Visiting hours are 24/7.
