Always a pleasure to see your work in progress, I know it will look outststanding when finished. Makes my meager efforts look very crude, I just want to make it work well. Would like to try a full resto when I get all my present stuff working to my standards, doesn't need to be mint but if I can't trust it for a long road trip it needs fixing. And Boris you do have 2 fine sons, nice to have some muscle. Just picked up a spare GS 750 engine, would love to have 2 strong men to move it for me. I had to use a wheel barrow, my wife is tough but she's only 5 feet tall so packing heavy stuff with her is a bit akward. Keep us updated, we love photos.

Here are some photos when i picked um up yesterday. My friend Chris brought the parts to Big Top Motorsports in Chilliwack. Dale ---the owner is a good friend of mine as well as Chris's .
He ( Chris) brought them in ---- he calls it his winter beater ---- I would not call it that buttt ,he's got a better one at home.
Chris is at the moment redoing a 73 Z1 as well and a friend of his (have not met him yet) did the paint job. Very talented painter.
The bikes all belong to Dale at Big Top . He just picked up 3 - H2's and a Ducati 250 narrow case Mach 3 . He has about 160 bikes- not a miss print---- so the collection grows .
Just for everyones info ,Dale had a bike show he sponsored in Chilliwack last year -i think i posted on that. Anyhow the feature bike was the Vincent--- next year ,because it's the 40 anniversary , the feature bike will be the Z1 and its brothers . It is one of the best show's i have attended --ever. Hope to see some of you boy's and Peggy down next year .

Glad to hear from you Boris, not surprised to see you are still up to your usual greatness on a great Bike. Sounds like Dales show would be worth going to.

A little progress in the last couple days. Got a long way to go yet. Lookin good for spring though . Carbs to rebuild , new tires ,may do something with the rims yet-dunno . Had to try the new pipes tonight - just like Christmas . These old bikes just get under your skin. But i'm goin to bed with a BIG smile.
That friggin engine was heavy -no way thats a 2 man job!

WOW, i looks better than new. Excellent job. Has finding all the parts been hard? . After doing a mild resto to my 650 C2, it seems like there was more out there for the Z1. Love to take in the show at the wack next year!! ;D

Hey MAC
In spite of this intense resto ,of all my restos , the parts for this one were the easiest to get. There is not one part that is not available . If not used then a repro. That being said ,this is my most satisfying project yet.
We have all seen one either in person or photos (many photos out there ) but having it here and polishing it up, sitting on it, lookin at it, feels great.
The pics don't do it justice .
Into the carbs the last few days -then a little wire hidin -soon to be ready to spark up.

I've enjoyed watching your restoration. I am sure that everybody in this hobby recalls a certain bike or two that was particularly influential on them. For me, it was a Z1 just like yours. My junior highschool janitor had one and rode it to work on nice days. I can rememer spending lunch hours looking over his bike and chatting him up. In 1973, that bike was HUGE, and such a strong statement that Kawasaki was all about power.
It is also interesting how in the decade following, its design pretty much became the UJM (Universal Japanese Motorcycle).
