Title: Vintage Motorbike Insurance in Prince George
Post by: Fredsindian on June 17, 2012, 11:59:04 AM
I just bought a couple of Indians and am having trouble finding insurance coverage for vintage motorcycle, other than ICBC' that is. A scary thing happened. I had paid for collision and storage insurance for them from Hagerty, drove one for a couple of weeks, a semi blew a stop sign and hit the back saddle bag. Don't worry, just cosmetic damage to the bike. I contacted ICBC who said I would have to go through Hagerty and they would submit the bill to ICBC. Well, when I contacted my insurance agent in PG she got in touch with Hagerty who said they don't insure vintage bikes in Canada. They had my cheque but I had no coverage. ICBC will cover because the other driver accepted responsibility, but now I have no coverage other than liability with ICBC. Is there any other companies that handle vintage insurance. Beacon doesn't. Can't ride them without insurance.

well, looking at Haggerty's website, they do not provide bike insurance in Canada, so I'd be looking for a refund to whoever sold the policy to you.  MadMac buys private optional insurance, not sure from who though, maybe Canada Direct, and it's not Vintage specific.  I do think it is declared value however.

Thanks. I'll look in Canadian Direct's wedsite. ICBC does insure for agreed value but real expensive even with collector plates. You bet I got my money back.
