Title: 1979 Goldwing
Post by: Rusty Bucket on May 13, 2012, 10:24:22 PM
Any club members interested in a $300 '79 GL1000 Goldwing Interstate? No papers, easily remedied, last registered a dozen years ago by an American) not currently running, but not thought to be too far from it, stored indoors for years.  No phone number, but I have the address written down at the shop.

I bought this. It looks like ti started life as a naked wing with an aftermarket fairing and bags coming later. They are pretty weird not to mention ugly. Thinking of trying to get rid of them. Will post pics soon and maybe someone can tell me what brand/make that they are.

I don't know what they are. They don't look like any samsonite that I have ever seen. I fact non of it does. Here are a couple more pics.

It would appear that it started life as a naked wing and then just got uglier.

Don't recognize the bags - but the fairing looks like a Shoei.  Actually, the top box looks like a Shoei to me, too.

How far back do you think they would be?  The style of the latches would seem to be pretty old.

I have one of the fairings, differing in the details of the signal/running lights, but otherwise the same, and I have seen ads for that in early '80's motorcycle magazines, so if the bike is a '79, I would be comfortable guessing the fairing is that as well.  Are the latches the same on the side bags as the top box?  Maybe it's a Shoei set.

The top box is a Shoei for sure. Says so on the inside of the lid. The latches are different though, and there is no identification on the inside. The fairing itself has no markings at all, that I can find.

Hi, is this Goldwing still available? I'm looking for a project if it's not too big a deal to get the engine going and the registration done...
Please let me know,
Andre.
