This a reminder to those who said they were putting a bike or two in the Pine Centre Mall for the Motorcycle Awarenes Show and Shine.
There is a meeting Tonight (Tuesday, April 24th) 7:00PM at Tim Horton's near the Brick (Hwy 16 & Ferry Ave). This will be a very short meeting. If you cannot make it, check back to this posting later and I will have updates.
Bruce from Motorycle Awareness will be meeting with Sandra Raymont this morning at Pine Cetre Mall and will bring everyone up to speed on any last minute changes or concerns she may have for our April 27th & 28th MC Show N Shine.
As for members being present at the Mall, we do not have an intinerary, and are just relying on members finding time to hang out with our bikes. I will be getting schwag from guy and I think he has our banner also. I plan to bring some old motorcycle magazines and stuff to entertain the looky loos. I am not sure about a table and chairs yet.
Start wiping down the bikes.
Peace & Grease, Dennis

I bunch of us attended the meeting tonight. Here is the skinny.
Thursday between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. we can set up our stanchions and table. We are not permitted to actually start pushing the bikes in until 9:00 p.m. (they do not want us interfering with shoppers). The Mall will provide the stanchions, table and some chairs. We can use "keep out " ribbon (which Bruce has a zillion metres of) but they can only be attached with masking tape, so I will try to bring a roll. We have to be finished setting up by 11:00 (that ought to be easy enough).
Bikes should be low on fuel to minimize fire hazards.
The closest door to where we will be is the rear entrance, however, it is not confirmed yet whether we can use that or not. Sounds like there will be no problem determining that on Thursday when we get there. Otherwise we should gather over by the food court entrance which is closest to Westwood Blvd.
Only one bike at a time to be pushed in. That sounds kinda goofy, but I guess they want to minimize mass confusion.
Bikes have to stay there until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Again, they don't want people moving the bikes while there are still shoppers. There are some other obvious rules like we cannot block fire exits and we are not to intimidate shoppers, so I guess my "Harleys are best, Fuck the rest" t-shirt will stay in the drawer.
Peace and Grease, Dennis

There goes my fuck you, I have enough friends already shirt also..

All bikes for the MC Show N Shine must be brought in the mall through the south entrance near Rogers. It has wider doors. (We are not to use the food court entrance).
I here Ted has the Shwag. I hope to touch bases with him today. I will have my Jeep as well as the Chang ... no I won't be driving both at the same time.
See you tonight at the south entrance.

Are we in the same spot by La Senza????
-
Nope. Instead we are by a jewellry store. Bummer. Instead of looking a hot pictures of women in underwear, we can look at jewellry we'll never buy.

Well, we rocked the show again. We had the largest display, won 3 trophies due to some suspect math, and didn't leave a drop of oil on the floor. Generally though, there were few bikes. Maybe a total of 25-30. We had 7, and strangely only one with a collector plate......

Dennis and Ted's bikes seemed to get the most attention as restored bikes, fooled almost everyone even after I made the signs. We did in fact make a good showing. Women of the wind, asphalt militia and CMC were no-shows. Everyone else downsized. Ride for dad had no bike while A.I.M. only had the crash bike. Goldwing guys had only four. Ditto for C.M.A. and the wandering souls, H.O.G. had only one on Friday--apparently Harley's are allergic to rain! We also won a couple of individual bike awards. YAY TEAM!!!! We rock. Damn I want to ride Charlie's hot little triumph! If it wasn't so valuable and rare it would be a kick-ass flat tracker.

^^Ya! What he said! ^^ Wish I could have had my bike there, not dripping oil...
I did get to sit and watch the bikes for a few hours on Friday morn/afternoon. It was cool chatting wih the fellows who showed up to be a part of the show.

Good going Dennis, Charlie, and the members who staffed the booth - I came by Friday morning on my way to Bellingham to check it out - and thought the representation was perfect for the venue. The prize classifications are interesting - we'll have to get Paul's Starship Enterprise down there somehow next year (anybody know a crane operator?) to pump-up our displacement and cylinder/piston counts...
