Title: Thanks Dennis
Post by: Sr.X on April 19, 2012, 05:34:22 PM
I now am the registered owner of a 1981 400 Yamaha. Finally had enough paperwork to keep ICBC happy and a $28. fee put the papers in my hands. Now it's time to start planning the rat bobber, hope to purchase 0 parts if possible. That's if the seals and gaskets are still ok. Will take some photos of the pile of parts when I start just for fun.

If it is the one I gave Russ, that Russ gave Stephen--- it is a low km bike that I traded for the wedding rings I bought my ex. Paid 2500, she pawned them for a hundred, I bought them back for 160. That p.o.s. was all I could get for them. Brought it home, cleaned the carbs, charged the battery, set the valves, put fresh fuel in it. Fired on the third kick, purred like a kitten. Tore off down the alley and noticed a warm burning sensation on my left leg--gas tank was rusted beyond repair and I had a rash on my leg for a week. Decided to build a bobber out of it, Stripped it and got about half the parts before losing interest. Time and space constraints- plus a lot of shit stored at Russ' shop (2 months turned into almost 2 years) caused me to send it that way. Guess what i'm saying is the engine should still be fine. Good luck Bob!!!

All I got was the frame, got a pickup load of boxes last summer but the frame had been cut with a torch and had no papers. The guy lost interest in it and it was take it or let it go to the landfill, it has a single disc and I have a pail with 3 master cylinders in it so it should be interesting when I get all the parts together. It's not that I need another project but free is hard to pass up and I hate to see something get tossed into a hole in the ground. Later, Bob
